Medford Strikers Soccer Club Invests in the Future with New “Juniors” Program
The Medford Strikers Soccer Club has been recognized as one of the premier soccer programs in South Jersey for four decades. Known for fostering the development of masterful technical skills, exceptional field vision and soccer IQ, and extraordinary character displayed by its athletes, the Club has successfully continued its tradition of providing a first-class training environment for “soccer serious” players. The Medford Strikers team parents and fans recognize the value of the Club’s training and have increasingly asked for an earlier entry into the program. The Club has answered their requests with the new Junior Development Program – the “Juniors” program.
The Medford Strikers Juniors program for boys and girls ages 7 to 9 is designed to build a solid foundation of skill and game sense. Developed and run by the same professional coaches who train the Club’s teams, the 90-minute sessions will provide 45 minutes of skill development activities, followed by 45 minutes of small-sided games where the youngsters can try out their new skills in a “free play” environment. During the skill development portion, the “Juniors” will be working on the same skills as the Medford Strikers teams: dribbling, foot skills, first touch, passing, juggling and shooting.
For parents curious about the Medford Strikers, the “Juniors” training program is a great opportunity to see if the Club is the right “fit” for their family. “We have high commitment and character requirements, and that attracts and keeps parents and players with those same high standards. For many years, our professional coaching staff has been providing first class training to some of the best players in New Jersey, and we can see positive results, both on and off the pitch,” explains the Club’s Technical Director, James Galanis. One such player is Delran-native, Carli Lloyd, World Cup Champion and two-time Best Player in the World. Medford Strikers SC was Carli’s club team as a teenager and she continues to be part of the Medford Strikers community. She often trains alongside the Striker teams and provides Mental Toughness coaching for the players, discussing what it takes to reach their life goals.
The Junior Development Program will introduce the Medford Strikers Soccer Club, and the reasons for its success, to those families with younger children looking for top-notch professional training in a nurturing community environment. The club president, Peter Kirikatis, describes what has made the Medford Strikers so successful for so long when so many other clubs have been forced to merge with other clubs or simply dissolve: “Our players’ love of the game, and desire to improve, is the driving force behind the success of the Club. The coaches know this, and know each player individually, and create an environment where development is the focus. When a player knows that he or she is improving and contributing to their team, their passion is ignited, and trophies are secondary. Our players and parents are here for the right reasons.” The 7-week training program begins April 7, 2018 and spaces are limited. Register today by emailing Juniors@medfordstrikers.com
