The Medford Strikers are pleased to announce that James Galanis of Universal Soccer Academy and our Technical Director, has accepted the position of Head Coach of the Atlanta Beat of Women’s Professional Soccer. Mr. Galanis will serve in an interim capacity for the balance of the 2010 season, which extends through September 11, 2010. The Atlanta Beat sacked head coach Gareth O’Sullivan and assistant coach Robbie Nicholson after a disappointing run and a 4-10-5 record. The Beat are only 5 points from the playoff pool, and there is no one better to return the team to form for the playoff run than James Galanis.
The Atlanta Beat position is a great opportunity for James to enter the national and world stage as a coach, as the biggest names in United States women’s soccer and women’s international soccer, play in the WPS. Certainly, this appointment lends great prestige to the Medford Strikers and Universal Soccer Academy, and will expand the reach and opportunities for growth of both organizations.
James remains fully committed to the Medford Strikers and Universal Soccer Academy players. The agreement structured with the Atlanta Beat enables James to continue to work with the Medford Strikers and to continue the Universal Soccer Academy training programs. James has always shown great commitment, dedication and support for our players, and he deserves nothing less from the Medford Strikers related to his decision to join the Atlanta Beat
The Medford Strikers wholeheartedly supports this decision. We wish James great success with the Atlanta Beat.
