Konopka Scores 7th as 11th-Ranked Wheaton Extends Streaks

NORTON, MA - Lauren Konopka, former star for the Medford Strikers Freedom and Holy Cross High School, scored her seventh goal of the season as the Wheaton Lyons shut out Clark, 3-0 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest this afternoon. It was the 11th straight victory of the season for the Lyons, ranked 11th nationally in Division 3, and the 70th consecutive conference game without a loss.
With seven assists to go with her seven goals, Konopka is tied for (coincidentally with her roommate) the team lead in scoring. She is second on the team in goals.
The Lyons will seek to extend their streaks Tuesday with a visit to Babson.
NC State’s Jessica O’Rourke Earns ACC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors

, was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC)Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after contributing on all five goals scored the Wolfpack scored in two victories this weekend.
O’Rourke registered her first career hat trick as she scored all of her team’s goals in the a 3-1 win over
GeorgiaState
at the Summit Hospitality Invitational hosted by NC State. The midfielder got the Pack on the board first in the 15th minute of action as she took a cross from Katie Ruiz and headed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. O’Rourke tallied her second goal of the match, the game-winner, in the 78th minute before capping off the afternoon with her third goal in the final minute of action.
In Sunday’s 2-0 win over American, O’Rourke assisted on the game-winner as she found Lindsay Vera from 10 yards out at 5:42 in the first half. The Marlton, N.J. native then added an insurance goal later in the first half as scored her fifth of the season on a blast from 25 yards out.
O’Rourke leads the undefeated (5-0-1) Wolfpack in goals (5), points (12), shots (23) and game-winning goals (2) through the first six games this season.
